LEBZ CTR overlapping LPPC FIR

Post by ruicraveiro » 16 Jan 2018, 00:29

Hi!

The Spanish LEBZ Badajoz's CTR partially overlaps the Portuguese LPPC FIR. It should be clipped at the FIR's border.

Thanks!

Rui

Hi Rui,
this is strange; boundaries are normally handled well...

Maybe something wrong with the definition from EAD / Eurocontrol.

Hi Jean-Michel,

Thanks for the always prompt reply. Possibly EAD data doesn't bother to clip the CTR as it assumes that applications using the data will do the clipping if the CTR isn't fully inside the FIR to which it belongs... just guessing. Maybe they don't specify it as such, but there's an error on the data, which could be compensated for by clipping any part of a CTR which overlaps a FIR other than the one it belongs to.

I am sending you an image. While the restricted area is properly clipped, the CTR is being placed over Portugal. For instance, it shoudn't cover Elvas. Obviously this is wrong as I would be needing a clearance to enter a Spanish area whilst flying inside Portuguese airspace, which gladly does not happen.

Best regards,

Rui

We'll get back to them see if they can do something about it.

We are in the process of reviewing datasources anyway (AIXM format & provider).
