Data Subscription: Update issue

Post by PilotC172 » 29 Aug 2017, 14:21

Hi,

I am facing an issue with FA1: After some months now (without flying) I wanted to update my data (Airports, Airspace, etc). When I press "REFRESH DATA" I see it downlading and storing but after it's done, I receive the message:

Successfully imported/updated:
0 airspaces
0 airports
0 runways
0 frequencies

Now, all waypoints are gone and I can't create a new flight plan since there is no way to enter departure and destination.

How can we resolve this?

Thanks for your help!

Hi P172,

FA v1 has been decomissioned months ago for Europe.

Servers that were serving aero data have been stopped, so I am afraid that what you are seeing is normal.

Where are you flying?

Hi,

Thanks for the fast reply. That's very sad to hear, I was very happy with FA1.
I am only flying in Europe, mostly Germany.

Best regards!

Hi P172,

the good news is that FA v2 is available for you.

https://www.flightassistant.aero

Much much better, reasonably priced ;).

You can try it for 2 months for free (one month when you install the app the first time, then one month when you subscribe).

Have a go, no strings attached.

Hi JM,

Thanks, I've already tried FA2 but I am not so happy with it, sorry. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems to me that some (for me crucial) features, which were available on FA1 for free, now only are available in the paid subscription. Such as the usage of my on raster maps. Currently, I don't have much time for flying so paying a subscription for one year for something, I am only using 4 or 5 times in this period, is not reasonable. Please don't get me wrong, I don't say FA2 is overpriced or something. I just try to keep my fixed costs down.

If I were able to use my own raster maps on FA2, it would be fine for me. Are there any resources to obtain FA1 (I''ve seen, it's not on Play any more)

Thanks and best regards

Hi P172,
Roger that, no worries, "it's a free country" ;).

No, as I said, the FAv1 servers are stopped, so aero data is not generated any more (there was cost for that as well).
As you have seen even if you still have teh app, it is an empty shell.
